House rules

How stances, reports, hides, and suspensions work. The Terms of Use remain the contract.

How it works

A proposal is a sentence you support or oppose. You place a stance, then adopt or write arguments. Arguments are claims about the proposal, not replies to people. There are no threads and no personal attacks. We rank arguments, never people. Faces on the line and beside arguments are a crowd, not a leaderboard: photo or initials, no names, not a profile. A face can open the argument that seat adopted. Your club in that league decides whether you count as club, rival, or neutral.

Stances

A stance needs at least one argument, and at most 3. Adopting existing arguments and writing a new one share that count. A new write is one of the 3, not an extra argument. An argument is 20–240 characters. You can withdraw while the proposal is open. Close stops new stances. Hidden proposals stay frozen: no new stances or interest marks.

Arguments

You cannot edit or delete an argument after you write it. Withdraw stance, under the line, takes your whole take back. Tap an argument off and save to drop that cite. A stance still needs at least one argument. When nobody stands with an argument, it leaves the page. You can do this while the proposal is open.

New proposals

You can send 3 draft proposals per day. Titles are at most 140 characters. Drafts wait for review before they open.

Reports and hiding

You can report a proposal or an argument. Your account must be 7 days old to report. You can send 10 reports per day. 2 independent reports hide the content from everyone except the author and staff. The author can contest a hide so staff can review it.

Interest

Interested and not interested are marks, not stances. You can mark 60 times per day. A card greys out after 5 not-interested marks and leaves the default feed after 8. That is crowd bury, separate from a staff or flag hide.

Clubs

You pick one primary club per league, or none. You can change a primary club every 30 days. You can follow at most 5 extra clubs per league.

Hashtags

When you write an argument you type up to 3 hashtags in the text itself, like #var (2–24 characters). They are labels on the claim, not a thread. They stay in the text you posted. You cannot add or remove them later. Abuse, slogans, and staff impersonation are refused. The news bot does not add them.

Suspension

We may hide arguments or proposals, and suspend or remove accounts, for abuse, hate, impersonation, or trying to manipulate results. A suspended account cannot take a stance, follow, or post.

The binding contract is the Terms of Use.
