Man Utd lack the midfield balance to compete with City this season
United sit 11th with 4 points from 3 league games. Carrick's 4-2-3-1 relies on Tielemans and Mainoo in midfield, but Baleba is injured and Ugarte is out long-term with a cruciate ligament tear, leaving the defensive shield thin against elite opponents.

United spent £50m on Ugarte and have Tielemans on a long contract; the midfield infrastructure is sound, not broken by temporary absences.
